Not sure how true it is but I’ve just read from a couple of different places that Hashtag Utd are taking voluntary relegation at the end of this season.

It doesn’t matter where they finish this season in the league they will be pulling out of it once finished.

Heard the rumours as well but what happens if they are allowed to do that and then they win the league?
Would they "decline" promotion?

Speculation of a merger with Redbridge??

I cant say I fully understand or care about Hashtags “relegation” but I think the relegation refers to their online profile

I'm glad they are being voluntarily relegated if only because I hate having to tell family and friends that we're playing against a keyboard symbol when it wasn't that long ago it was Wrexham, Luton or Cambridge Utd. We get away with games against the paper mills by calling them "PM", but Hashtag don't even have the decency to stick the name of a town or river in front of their name! It's a step too far for me as it just reminds me how far we've fallen. No disrespect to the players in their team, they're as tough to beat as anyone else in this league, but it's embarrassing when your friends and relatives ask who you're playing and come back at you with comments like "If you beat CapsLock in the cup do you get to play Exclamation Mark?" That doesn't mean Hashtag aren't capable of beating us, in fact they could trash our whole season by doing so on Saturday, but the fact that this is even a possibility just makes it all the more depressing.

I recall, not so long ago, that the FA stipulated that a club had to be named about the city, town or village they came from. A club in a league I was a committee member of, Brook House, had to change their name to Hayes Town (or similar.) I think they may have reverted to Brook House now. They were already an established club to be fair but Hashtag? Really? Get lost!!

Got to feel sorry for those who have supported ## over the years, especially those who were born and bred in ##.

To see their local club request relegation must be ####.

Have watched a few episodes on YT, and always enjoyed the coverage, although always wondered how they managed to survive with an online following, no home ground/area.

Big weekend in the promotion race coming up. Folkestone will be champions if they win at home to Carshalton and Aveley lose at home to Cray Wanderers. Dartford sit ten points behind Aveley with just six games to play. If Cray win, the gap drops to seven points with five to play. That just might be possible.

Chatham (3rd) are away to Brentwood (4th). Chatham are eight points ahead of Dartford, but still have to travel to PP on Easter Monday. If they lose to Brentwood and then at home to Aveley on Easter Saturday, Dartford could be in a position to overtake Chatham with a victory over them on Easter Monday. What an atmosphere that should generate.

Billericay (5th) are home to Burgess Hill (8th). If Billericay win, Burgess Hill will be at least nine points adrift of the play-off places with just five games to play. That would probably be too big a gap to bridge. Cray Wanderers will be in a similar position if they lose to Aveley and Billericay beat Burgess Hill.

Dartford are the only team in the top eight that face a rival outside of the top eight. Hashtag are eighteenth and have the equal third worst defensive record in the league with seventy-three goals conceded. They have one victory in their last five league matches, against Canvey Island.

Dartford will only make the play-offs if at least one other team slips up. It is vital that Dartford win their remaining matches to put pressure on the other teams who currently have something to lose. We do not. We are outside of the top five and even winning our last six games will not guarantee a play-off place at the moment. There should be no pressure on Dartford at least until the Chatham match. Relax and enjoy.

Not sure about Forest Green but Port Vale was named after a deep iinland port and community nr the city of Stoke. So they did represent a community.

Think I missed this somewhere. Port Vale is from Burslem Port Vale - the name of one of the six towns of Stoke on Trent. (And my home town!) “Burslem” was dropped when the club moved to Hanley and was never reintroduced when they returned to Burslem at their 1950’s new ground, Vale Park, (which many Darts fans will remember.) Vale Park was built to be the ‘Wembley of the North’ but never completed. (If you ever watch Vale on tele, note the expanse of grass! It’s massive. Biggest crowd there though was for a Motörhead concert in the 70’s. 😂
