I couldn't find a thread for this match so here it is.
Definitely drinking at the last chance saloon, with 7 games to go ...
Lewes (H)
Hashtag (H)
Carshalton (A)
Chatham (H)
Canvey (A)
Chichester (A)
Cray Valley (H)
We surely have to win at least 5 of these games to have any chance at all, so home games are absolutely crucial.
Can we play like we did at Folkestone for the rest of the season? If so, we still have a chance.

Really want to think we could see the season out on a high - problem is though our whole campaign has been a couple of good showings followed by some dismal ones, rinse and repeat. I set my watch to it back in September.

That’s good news. I hope this will continue for the remainder of the season and will be closely monitored with a view to making this permanent next season. Bring some life into the dire match day experience

We should only be looking at 3 points for this one, anything less and we can forget the play offs.

In fact, any defeat from now on is a big no-no.

Just had a look at the predicated final league table on the Football pages website and 5th place is 76pts. That suggests that we will need 18pts from our remaining 7 games. I didn't realise that we were in such a poor position.

It’s easy to overlook the effects of our many mediocre performances because we are in the throes of one of our many excellent runs of results - four points from two away games. Sadly, if our season’s form is to truly prevail, we will probably amass just one or two points from the next two fixtures and look set for an eighth place finish.
One we will have to keep quiet if there is any chance of winning this Saturday is Devonte West who is a real danger, scoring both in Lewes’ 2-1 home win over Dulwich Hamlet last weekend and their consolation at Brentwood the weekend prior.

It does make me smile somewhat the valued comments on here of the faithful hanging on for the hope of playoffs. I love it. I just wish I could be that person. I was born a pessimist and it’s generally treated me well.

. In football and in life. But folks, play offs, cmon, wake up!

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t hoping your team do well… like… the whole point of football?
If we’re not gonna at least talk about at what would be needed to make an outside shot at playoffs happen, we may as well stay home

Nothing wrong with being optimistic. Playoffs are possible, but certainly wouldn’t bet on us. So all to play for. No disrespect and I never think we’re bigger than we are, but if we can not beat Lewes at home then we definitely 100% do not deserve to be anywhere near the playoffs.

Absolutely is mate. And I do. But, statistically, your average football fan is gonna end the season disappointed. (Unless you’re Cheatsea or Manchester Cheaty.

) I was merely alluding to my (now) expectations after seeing a season of largely disappointing results interspersed with the occasional superb performance/result. I gave up on the playoffs a while back. But still, as you say, ‘hope’ for a miracle. And then what? Actually win them? Phwwww.

Looking at the teams likely to be relegated from National League south, I got to hope we can sneak into the play-offs and just maybe win them because this league is only ever going to get harder to get out of, only one way to go without investment,,
Talking about investment maybe I dreamt it but were the club not in talks with someone regarding investment?

Probably one way not to go (up), without investment.
Don't panic, we've invested in the music business.
Hoping to see everyone on 24th May!

I stopped betting years ago but for some reason thought I’d check out the odds for today’s game and was surprised to see us such strong favourites. Given our burgeoning propensity to disappoint after a couple of decent results this season, it’s tempting to lump on our visitors at almost 5/1…

Indeed. I’ve seen that quite a bit this season. It seems the bookies’ risk assessors are not so on the ball in the lower echelons of the game as they are at the top.
