So… do we rest players and not risk any further injuries/suspensions or do we start our strongest XI in the hope that both Billericay and Horsham drop points?

Without a doubt we HAVE to start our strongest Xl and really go for it because you just never know what’s going to happen.
We could still be champions or we could still end up in the runners up spot which would give us a home tie with either Dover or Chichester who play each other Saturday for that last play off spot.

Go into this one having to win and needing the other two to slip up, as opposed to Monday where they won and we slipped up.
It’s football, so there’s bound to be a twist in the tail (though this is much more likely to take effect on Billericay & Horsham than it is on us). We might get another eight minutes at the top - wouldn’t it be nice if that started at 16:50.
Maybe we’ll all lose again.

In the hope we don't need to know according to the isthmian website the play off dates are Semi-finals Wed 30th April and the Final on Bank holiday Monday 5th May. I assume highest placed finish in the League get Home advantage.
Re: Dartford v Carshalton Athletic Sat 26 Apr 2025
It's going to be an interesting day as you have 3 teams who could potentially end up as champions, but NOT one of them has matters entirely in their own hands. Billericay may be in pole position, but even if they beat Cheshunt, there's a risk that Horsham could outscore them against Hashtag. So do they just try and win and hope that's enough? And what about Horsham, do they go out all guns blazing, trying to overturn the goal difference or do they just hope for a Billericay stumble? In a way, we have the most straightforward task in that we have only one goal and that is to win our game and keep our fingers crossed the other two both stumble. That may seem unlikely, but then Billericay have been a bit dodgy in recent home games and seem to be suffering with a bit of nerves having lost 3 out of their last 4 home league games. It's going to be a fun filled afternoon and I suspect there's going to be a lot of people constantly checking their phones. Here's hoping my car is still in the car park on Saturday morning.

I almost don’t want to say it but we have to win out game of course but not just to hopefully somehow win the league but to at least hopefully come 2nd so the playoff games are all at home. I think there is a chance to come 2nd Saturday at least. We just need to do our job then hope at least one of the others slips. Not impossible.

I’m not even sure if any of us are gonna see any action on the pitch on Saturday. It’ll be heads buried in phones on Fotmob / sofascore et al.

As the old adage goes ''records are there to be broken'', and a record winning victory margin against Carshalton Athletic tomorrow would, probably, get us automatic promotion. Unlikely, yes, but that has to be the aim. No point in playing safe and hoping results go our way. Think of the headlines and kudos that would give the club, players and all involved. Keep the faith. I for one will be watching the game Saturday hoping for the win. Regardless of where we finish up I'm sure Wednesday night, should we be in the play off semi/final Ade will be getting the lads up ready for whatever the situation.
Should we be away in the Final it will be Horsham who'll do the worrying.
Should we be at home in the Final it will be a great end to a fine season regardless of the score.
We've got to get through the semi-final first.
I look forward to Sweet's verbal crap which will hopefully be deleted before I get home from any game in the next week.

Well if Billericay win by a single goal we would need to beat Carshalton by 9 clear goals. I am ever the optimist but there's more chance of me winning the lottery tomorrow and I haven't even bought a ticket. Going out gung-ho in the belief we can score 9+ goals against a decent Carshalton side (who only narrowly missed out on the play-offs themselves) is delusional. We just need to focus on winning the game and fingers crossed, our rivals stumble, that is the only way we can win this thing.templehillian wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 8:34 am As the old adage goes ''records are there to be broken'', and a record winning victory margin against Carshalton Athletic tomorrow would, probably, get us automatic promotion. I have purchased my rail tickets for the journey down to PP tomorrow, probably along with numbers of Evertonians travelling down for their 12:30 ko at Chelsea.
Had been hoping it was going to be the Darts in control of our own destiny, rather than us relying on Hosham and Billericay slipping up, but it is what it is. Still do-able.

Very do-able Pete, whether we achieve the nigh impossible tomorrow or the hard way.
We are very much in it.

I reckon Billericay and Horsham are each going to win 3-0 with all goals scored by ineligible players.

We're in the same position now we've been in for quite a while, win our remaining games and we STILL go up

Realistically, I can’t see both of those two slipping up but I can see one of them doing so which would give us massive impetus finishing second and two home games with a potential HOME final against one of them. (Worst case is an away final against one of them.) WE CAN DO IT.

The last play-off place is between Chichester and Dover and by a strange coincidence both teams meet at Chichester today, Dover's goal difference is much better so a draw would get them 5th place.
