ASHFORD TOWN 1-4 DARTFORD

Post by Ajaxman DFC »

Another very good result for the ladies, maintaining their 100% start to the season and they were without Shauni Griffiths and Paris Smith for this one too.
Goals from Lizzie Adams, Leen Ekwo, Abbey Davies and Leila Awan continues to show we've got goals all over the park this season.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the trip but with the new media makeover my on the edge efforts penned with a dark sense of humour are virtually redundant anyway now.
Although fans on Twitter X were invited by DFC to check out the link to the match report on the 2-0 win at Ashford. For those that didn't take up the offer I can confirm Ashford not only pulled a goal back but we did double that goal tally. But I guess it wouldn't be DFC otherwise, would it.
Thank god Connor Brennan knows what he's doing. His regular Twitter updates are bang on and I for one was grateful for that yesterday, being 235 miles away.
I did use my time constructively however, by checking out Tier 5 in the Women's North West Regional Premiere League. Bolton were hosting AFC Fylde at Victory Park, home of Chorley FC.
Two sides who had began the season scoring for fun until they met each other. AFC Fylde's Niamh Corrigan's 28th minute goal was all that separated the teams when the final whistle was blown. I was impressed with Corrigan before the goal. The attacking midfielder is still only 18. Shame she's based at the opposite end of the country otherwise I'm sure Connor and Macca would take her tomorrow. Fylde had to soak up the pressure after being reduced to 10 courtesy of a red card on 68 minutes.
But what was significant for me was this is the same level as us. The level which we are desperate to get out of for various reasons.
For one thing, the standard of the officiating was the best I've
seen for sometime.
More importantly for a southerner like myself though was the fact both sets of players had their names printed on the back of their shirts. The league seems better organised and I bet they wouldn't stoop so low as to brush a League Cup Final under the carpet either.
Being able to view a match knowing exactly who I was watching, along with Connor's regular updates keeping me well informed of events down South, I had a very enjoyable afternoon.
