Kent Senior Cup - 1st Round - Erith Town v Dartford Tue 23 Sep 2025 @ 19:45pm
Re: Kent Senior Cup - 1st Round - Erith Town v Dartford Tue 23 Sep 2025 @ 19:45pm
Thanks for the updates PL. I know it’s only the Kent Senior Cup but that result is disappointing. With teams above us in the league winning tonight means that we desperately need to start picking up points ASAP before those playoffs are out of reach as well.

Attendance was 126 for anyone who cares.

What’s the point in Putting Olly on the bench and not sticking him on for pens?
Would be nice if an update came out regarding the injuries rather than just using them as an excuse for another loss!

It’s good to see academy players getting some first team experience because I honestly get frustrated whenever key players are wasted on KSC minutes. Cheshunt are an in-form side and that needs all our focus.

You ain’t the only one Steve. I’m depressed to feck about the whole situation. Can’t believe we now go into a home league game as underdogs against Cheshunt! No disrespect to them, but, just how far are we gonna fall? And the club continue to dis fans by not simply letting us know player updates re injuries. The top clubs do it very quickly, why can’t we? Perhaps it’s too difficult or we just don’t matter to them?

Not even a surprise. Every result feels like a kick in the balls right now.

I'm assuming your post re getting in the academy kids was tongue in cheek then SD?
Disappointed with the result obviously but felt that doing just that was a push too far..

Not sure what I expected to be honest Lars. But a 3-2 up advantage in a penalty shoot out with two each to go and us miss both is pretty shit whichever group of players is out there. I mean they are FOOTBALLERS whose job it is to kick a ball into a goal from 12 yards. It’s not as if us aged fans are having to take them. Oh, wait a minute….Lars Resort wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 7:55 am I'm assuming your post re getting in the academy kids was tongue in cheek then SD?

Praps I need to manage my expectations a bit more and ‘accept’ disappointment as the new ‘norm’ and take anything else as a bonus!
Bloody hell, this club used to be the respected ‘talk’ of non-league football .

That's true and to think we've only tumbled down one level.

One could argue two levels. Yep, I think our spiritual base is ‘Conference South,’ but DARTFORD FC should really be contesting in the highest echelons of non league football. Not as ‘easy’ as it used to be I guess. Can you imagine what a future relegation would be like? I shudder to think.Lars Resort wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 12:34 pm That's true and to think we've only tumbled down one level.

Agree that it's two but tend to go with SD on that. Tend to think we are more NLS.

I sometimes feel as though the club's hierarchy believes we are at the level we belong in.

I’m not so sure about that Spike. I (all too often) see the anguish on Steve Irving’s face at games. He’s as passionate about it as us all.Spike wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 4:33 pm I sometimes feel as though the club's hierarchy believes we are at the level we belong in.

The 2nd last line genuinely scares me- when I think of the graft put in between 2007 and 2014 to fall back to what was Ryman’s South would be devastating - we won’t go on a 21 game unbeaten run again (let’s be realistic with this current team) so as sad as it sounds I’d be happy to stay up this year - I’ve put my tin hat onSleightly Deceptive wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 2:10 pmOne could argue two levels. Agree completely Paul. When we moved here 2 years ago we'd just finished a season where we could have been promoted via playoffs to play Chesterfield 12 miles down the road. Then we went into free fall and now 3 leagues apart instead of one. Not impossible to be 5 apart after this season.
So sad. Can't believe Josh's retirement from defence and captaincy can have made that much difference. We're back to where we were last year at this time, and impossible to see another major turnround again. Embarrassing.
