Shock as Fulham FC Women withdraw from League Cup Final just hours before kick-off

Shock withdrawal rocks fans just 24 hours before the League Cup Final.

by Johnny Haynes April 26, 2025

In a dramatic and unexpected turn of events, Fulham FC Women (FFCW) have withdrawn from the League Cup Final just hours before it was due to start.

The final, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 27 April at Gallagher Stadium, has been thrown into turmoil following Fulham’s admission that they fielded an ineligible player in earlier rounds of the competition. Their opponents, Dartford FC Women, had announced just an hour earlier the match would be postponed.

The news broke early Saturday morning when Fulham released an official statement confirming they would be pulling out of the tournament. Fulham said the issue came to light only on Friday, prompting an urgent internal review. Upon confirming the breach of player eligibility rules, the club immediately notified the league of their intention to withdraw.

Huw Jennings, Fulham’s Head of Football Development, expressed the club’s deep regret over the incident.

“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all those who have been affected by this oversight: the league and its officers; the players, officials and supporters of Dartford, Millwall, Brentford and Denham United. We would also like to apologise to our own supporters, especially those who were planning to attend the final this Sunday.”

Just an hour before Fulham’s withdrawal, Dartford FC Women had announced via social media that the final was postponed due to “unforeseen circumstances,” leaving fans wondering what was happening behind the scenes. Dartford have since shared Fulham’s full statement, confirming the cause of the disruption.

The identity of the ineligible player and the precise nature of the breach have not been disclosed. In similar cases, eligibility issues typically involve administrative errors such as a failure to properly register a player or fielding someone who was ‘cup-tied’—having already represented another club in the same competition.

For both sets of fans, the collapse of the final comes as a bitter disappointment. Supporters of Fulham FC Women, in particular, had been gearing up for a historic day, with the team’s remarkable cup run having captured imaginations.

The league has yet to announce the next steps: whether Dartford FC Women will be awarded the trophy by default, or if alternative arrangements will be made. Either way, Fulham’s exit from the competition under these circumstances marks a devastating end to their cup ambitions.

Fulham FC Women are now shifting their focus to their final league fixtures, beginning with a home match at Craven Cottage against Sporting London Benfica on Sunday 4 May. The club will be aiming to finish the season on a positive note and to rebuild trust with supporters after what has been a deeply damaging episode.

Spare me the violins. There's no genuine consideration for the real victims here.

Fulham's "remarkable cup run having captured imaginations".
Honestly, I'm not buying that for a millisecond.

Is there no end to their self-kidology? It's hardly remarkable considering the depth of their financial backing.

"Fulham's exit from the competition under these circumstances marks a devastating end to their cup ambitions".

Excuse me while I stick my fingers down my throat.
This is nomore than a PR stunt to enlicit sympathy from the FA.

Add reporter Johnny Haynes to the equation and they're just marking their own homework.

I hope you wasn't charged a subscription fee to download this bullshit from a local West London rag Tony. If so we'll all chip in.

Friday, 9th May 2025:

I'm just posting this link on this fans-based forum so I can find it quickly when needed.

https://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2025/apri ... cup-final/

Scroll to the bottom and you'll find all the businesses associated with and/or sponsoring Fulham FC Women.

I am contacting some of Fulham FC Women sponsor companies, making them aware that they are financially supporting a club that has brought the game into disrepute by cheating on multiple occasions in this season's league cup competition. I am doing this on a personal note and making it clear I am not officially part of Dartford F.C. - simply a supporter.

We'll see if they do the same as the League, the FA the Kent FA, Kent Messenger - pull a blank canvas down on things. Hide away in their shells.

The League have made a decision. Shame it's come from another club's site this morning. Utter contempt all round by the sound of it.

And so it get's worse. Am I surprised? Not really. Infact I was just thinking, I wonder if the London & South East Regional League has ever organised a right old knees up in a brewery?
Thought not. It would be way beyond their capabilities.

They can run but they can't hide. This is a bottle job and a cover up. After the recent display of common sense shown by the Supreme Court, protecting women's sports forcing the FA to get a bloody grip, they've now been let down by the footballing bodies again. They've certainly disrespected our women by the way they have totally mishandled the league cup. They haven't taken it seriously which proves misogyny is still rife.
They don't want to know and it does make you wonder if they are covering up for one of their own.
Their credibility has gone out of the window. For the LSERL read Mickey Mouse League. Infact get Mickey, Donald Duck and Goofy onboard and they'll do a better job.
They certainly couldn't do any worse.

Can't wait, above all, for Sunday's Rachel's Breast Cancer Awareness/ Fundraising Day and the 25th Anniversary of DFC Women, with all the fun...

Fulham must expect a very chilly reception though, even doubting their League Credentials!
Boos... Cheats... Turn our backs before Kick Off!!!
Oh, return the compliments... No post match Food either!

I'm sure the Fulham ladies will be good sports post-match and be more than happy to take part in one of our many events by entering the stocks, allowing our little Dartford Utras to bombard them with wet sponges.
All in the name of a good cause ofcourse.
And while I think of it, if anyone from West London goes to the bar Shauni has to make it quite clear it's cash or card only.
No envelopes.

Don't forget the Guard of Horror, for the start...
(With Suspicious Minds)

Hope all the 40 + Ringers can at least stay and support Rachel's Breast Cancer Awareness Day, afterwards.

They could also take part in Play Your Cards Right.
If they're eligible.
