NO HANDBAGS IN BLACKPOOL!

First of all congratulations to our girls for getting through to the next round of the FA Cup. The past few seasons have seen them generate a fair amount of income for DFC in cup prize money as well as striving to win the league, which has been the main priority. It's called multi-tasking!
I didn't think for a nano second that our ladies would fail to progress today.
I would also like to give a big shout out to Connor Brennan for keeping me updated with events at Princes Park throughout the game via Twitter X. Four goals from our new recruits plus one from an ex-Dart.
With FA Cup second qualifying rounds being played up and down the country today, I found myself next door to Blackpool Airport at the home of AFC Blackpool.
It was an all Tier 6 affair where Pools took on the ladies of Wigan Athletic.
North West Regional League Division 1 North versus NWRL Div 1 Central.
After spending the first 5 minutes walking around assessing the chances of both sides, I chose to stand at the side of the pitch Wigan were attacking. Everything was looking good for the Latics until the 20th minute when a debatable late tackle saw a straight red reducing the visitors to ten women. Blackpool hit the cross bar from the resulting free kick but scored 5 minutes later. Just before the break Wigan collapsed with two quick goals in succession.
Not long after the restart it was four. By this time the girl who was sent off must have been feeling like crap. Her teammates were getting frustrated and it was no surprise when it all kicked off with one red card becoming three.
Wigan's Aimee Woodward totally lost it for starters.
She punched a Blackpool player full on in the face. She then seemed infuriated to see the player still standing and punched her in the face again. She was then hauled off in the midst of throwing a third.
Welcome to women's football in the North West. Or should that be Wild West!
They don't do handbags in Blackpool.
This was nightclub chucking out time.
The final score was 5-1 which was irrelevant really. It was game over well before the final whistle.
To say it was a competitive contest is an understatement and you couldn't fault anyone for lack of effort right through to the bitter end.
But as for the quality on the pitch, I couldn't see one single player from either side who would made the bench at Princes Park.

Thank you for Tangerine match (incident) report AJM.
Unproductive Scouting then!!!
Any chance of the 2-3 red - carded ones being available for this Saturday's men's fixture, to stand with our Yooths behind the goals and keep'em calm, dry and well - behaved???

Wouldn't be the first time I've seen an OTT steward/stewardess evicted from a ground. Remember Bristol Rovers? 😅

Very well indeed.
When the Gas was being 'abusive' towards our keeper of colour too!
