Re: DARTFORD v BROMLEY/HAMMERSMITH FA Cup 2nd Qualifying round 22/09/24 KO 2pm
After being informed by the London & South East Regional League on Thursday morning that as far as they were aware Dartford were playing Hammersmith or Bromley, (like tell me something I don't know), finally the latter was reported as being reinstated in the afternoon.
Not much time for the coaches to tactically prepare for the opposition after the girls had already trained the evening before. Or maybe it doubled the workload having to prepare to take on a side you're not going to meet. Given the circumstances it wasn't the most difficult decision to make and feel the FA should have given Dartford FC more notice not only for preparation but to give more clarity in promoting the game.
As for the match itself it was a well deserved victory. Despite Teni's superb looping header into the top left hand corner in the 30th minute being equalised in the same time as it takes to boil an egg, I didn't feel it was anything to be concerned about. Our girls totally dominated the game up until then and Bromley were lucky to go into the break on level terms. To be fair to the visitors it was a well taken goal even though it was against the run of play.
Normal business was resumed in the second half with Amy Russ to the rescue hitting the target in the 59th minute. A fine run down the left wing on 79 mins from Georgie saw her send in a great cross for Ellie to fire home at the far post giving Darts a 3-1 lead. Shauni was very unlucky not to get on the score sheet when her long range shot cannoned off the crossbar in the 83rd. Brionne then put the game well and truly to bed with the fourth goal on 88 minutes, securing a date for the third qualifying round.
