SUTTON UNITED POST MATCH INTERVIEW

I've just viewed the post match interview given by Sutton United's manager Lucy Clark, following our ladies well deserved 5-0 victory on Sunday.
It started off ok. Clark was very complimentary by recognising the fact our girls are top of the league for a reason. In the United manager's view our women are physically strong and well drilled. But as the interview wore on the physical side of their game suddenly seemed to become an issue. Then, at the halfway mark, it...all....went....WRONG.
By the end of the video our girls had morphed into brutal thugs who had battered their women, leaving them bruised and blooded by the end of the game.
Xayla should have been sent off in the first few minutes apparently, for winning the ball and, God forbid, making physical contact. There were other potential shouts for a red card too according to Clark, who was evidently bemused by how the referee managed to keep his cards in his pocket.
Clark even suggested an orange card should have been shown. Whatever for I don't know. I can only assume one of their players must have been tangoed by Xayla at some point during the game.
Agreed, our girls are physically strong for a reason.
But there is nothing sinister about it. They are a group of highly dedicated, hardworking biological women who train extremely hard off the field, working out in the gym to cope with the physicalities required to compete at this level.
If that creates an unfair playing field then yes, they should have been promoted last season. But they weren't. Some of it was down to bad luck along with one or two significant issues outside their control. Like losing Nicha Dyett for the last six matches.
If Sutton feel their players are getting knocked off the ball far too easily then maybe they should be looking inwards at their own training programmes and commitment.
